KINGSLEY WINS FIRST MIDWEST MODIFIED FEATURE

It was Old Timer Picnic time at the Proctor Speedway on Father’s Day 2012 as
all former racers at the speedway were invited to the track in the afternoon for a
get together and picnic. Also the Northern Vintage Stock Car club was on hand as
part of the show. A large number of former racers were on hand and a good time
was had by all.
Unfortunately a big black cloud loomed to the west of the track and officials
hurried to complete the show, especially the Vintage cars who brought the largest
contingent of cars to the track in memory. A total of 21 cars, ten full bodied cars
and eleven “super modifieds” were on hand.
All heat races of the weekly cars as well as both the vintage heats and feature
were completed. The weekly show got under way with the WISSOTA Midwest
Modified feature which was won by Superior’s Dan Kingsley, his first feature win
at the speedway. As the Super Stock feature rolled onto the track the rain began to
fall and the rest of the show was cancelled. Since the rain started after the heat
races were done the race was called complete.
The features for the Super Stocks, Late Models, Modifieds and Pure Stocks are
scheduled to be run next Sunday June 24th starting at 5 p.m. followed immediately
by the scheduled weekly program. There will be no hot laps.
Andrew Inman jumped into the lead from outside the front row as the field
began it’s 20 lap feature but Dan Kingsley drove by on the back stretch to take the
lead. After a lap the caution flag flew when Ross Siiter’s car stalled on the pit
road. At the green Kingsley continued to lead with Loren Inman and Neil Balduc
close behind as Andrew Inman slipped back to fourth and Josh Heavirland fifth.
Kingsley began to widen the gap back to second as Loren Inman and Balduc
battled for second with Balduc taking the position. Seventh starting Deven
VanHouse moved into third as Dan Doran and Dan Larsen tangled in turn two. At
the restart Kingsley held the lead and a light sprinkle began to fall on the track.
Kingsley led Loren Inman and VanHouse took over second from Inman. Balduc
and Andrew Inman ran in the top five as the half way point was reached with
another caution flag showing as Andrew Inman went off the back stretch and
needed a wrecker to extract him. At the green flag VanHouse made a run on
Kingsley for the lead but was unable to pull off the pass. The two leaders opened a
wide gap on the third place battle between Loren Inman and Heavirland. Kingsley
pulled away from VanHouse and went on to take the win. Heavirland, Loren
Inman and Jeff Forseen rounded out the top five.
