PETERLIN WINS SECOND STRAIGHT PROCTOR LM FEATURE

A transplanted Australian now living in Forest Lake, MN won the 20 lap

feature for the Upper Midwest Sprint Series (USMSS) at the Proctor Speedway

Sunday night. Pole sitter Chris Graf was out front and flying for the first eleven

laps but Brooke Tatnell who started fifth, tracked him down and made what

proved to be the winning pass off turn two and was never caught the rest of the

way. Tatnell added to his total as the leading UMSS feature winner. He now has

14 wins in the fledgling organization which in its fourth season. Jerry Richert, Jr

PETERLIN SWEEPS LATE MODELS AT PROCTOR

Neil Balduc of Bessemer, MI won the Midwest Modified feature at the Proctor

Speedway Sunday night. Balduc started on the pole but got snookered by veteran

Bill Matzdorf at the start. Matzdorf bolted from the outside of the second row and

took the lead which he held until the white flag lap when Balduc who had been

dogging Matzdorf’‘s tire tracks since the restart after the caution for Dan Wilson’s

spin early in the 20 lap event, sailed by to the lead and took home his second

feature win of the season. Deven VanHouse and Loren Inman lurked in the top

five for the entire event but couldn’t muster enough steam to challenge the two

leaders. Balduc had his own battle for several laps as he had to let Matzdorf go

while he battled with Kingsley to keep second. Balduc finally broke away from

Kingsley, closed on Matzdorf and those two broke away to duke it out for the win.

In the closing laps the top five pulled away from the pack which was led by Josh

FRANK TOPS PROCTOR SPEEDWAY LATE MODELS

Due to the rain out of all but one feature event on June 17, the four remaining

events were run prior to the 6-24 program. Each was a full length feature. Darrell

Nelson won both the WISSOTA Late Model and Modified main events. In the 25

Late Model event Nelson tracked down Aaron Lillo from the seventh starting

position. Lillo started from the outside of the front row and it took Nelson until the

21st lap to make the pass after the first caution flag of the race. Earlier there had

been a red flag situation as the cars of Gregg Hill and Late Model rookie Scott

Herrick tangled off turn two and crashed into the ditch along the back stretch.

Herrick’s #00 did a side over roll and landed on its wheels while Hill’s #8 finished

partially on one of the huge tractor tires that are in front of the guard rail. Hill was

soon out and walking about but it took rescue workers several minutes to extract

Herrick who was seen walking to the ambulance. Word came later that he was

KINGSLEY WINS FIRST MIDWEST MODIFIED FEATURE

It was Old Timer Picnic time at the Proctor Speedway on Father’s Day 2012 as

all former racers at the speedway were invited to the track in the afternoon for a

get together and picnic. Also the Northern Vintage Stock Car club was on hand as

part of the show. A large number of former racers were on hand and a good time
